BMO Chequing Accounts and Fees: Practical, Plus, Performance, Premium and Blue Rewards

Updated

BMO’s personal chequing plans run from the Practical Plan through the Plus and Performance plans to the Premium Plan, with the Blue Rewards Bank Plan alongside them. Monthly fees, the balance that removes them where a plan has one, included transactions and Interac e-Transfer terms are in the table below, taken from BMO’s plans-and-fees agreement effective June 2, 2026. BMO’s NSF, overdraft, ATM and other charges have their own section, which links that agreement for the fees it leaves out.

BMO includes Interac e-Transfers on its everyday bank plans, but on the Practical and Plus plans each e-Transfer sent uses up one of the plan’s monthly transactions. BMO’s agreement presents the Practical Plan as its account under the low-cost and no-cost account commitment, which is explained on no-fee chequing accounts.

When does BMO waive the monthly fee?

Three plans, Plus, Performance and Premium, drop the monthly fee when the lead chequing account holds a set minimum balance every day of the month; the Practical Plan and the Blue Rewards Bank Plan are priced without a balance waiver. Seniors’ discounted pricing is applied automatically, and BMO’s no-cost and discounted banking programs bring the Practical Plan to zero for the groups listed in its expander. A plan’s waiver balance, where it has one, and its discounted price are in its Monthly fee cell above and again in its expander below, next to its overdraft terms.

For US dollars, BMO has a U.S. Dollar Primary Chequing Account and a U.S. Dollar Premium Rate Savings account, both covered on US-dollar accounts.
