Desjardins Fees (2026): Transaction Plans, NSF, ATM and Wire Fees

Updated

Desjardins is a federation of caisses rather than a single chartered bank, but it publishes one schedule, “Service Fees for Individual Members,” that applies to its transaction plans across the network. This page lists each plan’s monthly fee and waiver balance and the charges for services outside the plan. How Desjardins compares with the banks is in the Canadian bank fees comparison.

Incoming wireFree from a Desjardins Bank account; free from another institution if under $50.00, otherwise $15.00
Safety deposit box$60 (basic) to $300 (extra large) annually

As the ATM row shows, withdrawals at ATMs in the ACCULINK network of partner credit unions carry no Desjardins fee; the ATM networks are compared in the ATM withdrawal limits roundup. Sending limits are on the Desjardins e-Transfer limits page.

NSF and overdraft fees

FeeAmount
NSF (returned item)$10.00
Overdraft protection$5.00 per caisse transfer, plus 21%/year interest (calculated daily) on the overdrawn amount

Federal rules cap the NSF fee on personal deposit accounts. Desjardins charges per caisse transfer when overdraft protection covers a shortfall, plus interest; NSF fees and overdraft compared explains when that costs less than a returned payment.

Member dividends, credit cards and savings

A caisse can pay members a year-end dividend based on the products they hold and their balances; it is voted on at each caisse’s annual meeting, so it varies and isn’t guaranteed. How the dividend works is covered in the Desjardins review.

Desjardins credit cards carry their own annual fees, listed in the credit card comparison. Term savings and GIC rates change often and are compared in the GIC hub; Desjardins deposits are protected by provincial deposit insurance rather than CDIC, as the review explains. Transit and institution numbers are on the Desjardins routing number page, and service lines in Desjardins customer service.
