KOHO e-Transfer Limit (2026): Send, Receive and Load Limits

Updated

KOHO uses Interac e-Transfer both to load money onto your account and to move it back out. KOHO’s published limits are, for sending, $5,000 per transaction (send), free on every plan, and for receiving, $10,000 per transaction, $10,000 per day, $40,000 per month (receive), free on every plan. Instant outgoing e-Transfers (as opposed to standard ones) are reserved for the Extra and Everything plans.

KOHO e-Transfer limits at a glance

Sending$5,000 per transaction (send), free on every plan
Receiving (loading)$10,000 per transaction, $10,000 per day, $40,000 per month (receive), free on every plan
Instant sendExtra and Everything plans only; standard sends on every plan

The receiving limits matter more at KOHO than at a bank, because an e-Transfer from your bank is the usual way to add money. A transfer larger than KOHO’s receiving cap has to be split, and the daily and monthly receiving totals apply across all the transfers you load.

Other ways to load KOHO

  • Direct deposit. Your pay or government payments can go straight to KOHO using the deposit details shown in the KOHO app. KOHO has no institution number of its own: the details are Peoples Trust Company’s. The direct deposit setup guide covers the employer and CRA steps.
  • Cash at Canada Post. KOHO users can add cash at participating Canada Post locations using a code from the app; confirm the current fee and limit in the app before you go.

To move money out, send an e-Transfer from the KOHO app to your own bank account. Amounts above the sending limit go as several transfers.

Sending and receiving at KOHO

In the KOHO app, e-Transfers out are under Send Money; to load money, send an e-Transfer from your bank to the email address registered with KOHO. KOHO support runs through in-app chat and email rather than a phone line. The general steps for sending, receiving and Autodeposit are in the Interac e-Transfer guide.

KOHO’s limits are set side by side with banks’ and other fintechs’ in the e-Transfer limits comparison, including Neo Financial’s e-Transfer limits and Wealthsimple’s. KOHO’s plans and fees are on the KOHO review, and other limit types are in the bank limits hub.
