RBC ATM Withdrawal Limit (2026): How to Check and Raise It

Updated

RBC doesn’t publish a standard daily ATM withdrawal limit. Its client-card disclosure says the limit is specific to your card and points you to RBC Online Banking or the RBC Mobile app to see it, so a figure quoted elsewhere as “the RBC ATM limit” is only meaningful if it is your own card’s. The same card also carries a separate daily limit for Interac debit purchases. How RBC compares with other banks is in the ATM withdrawal limits roundup, and RBC’s transfer and deposit limits are gathered with other banks’ in the guide to Canadian bank limits.

How the purchase side compares across banks is covered in the debit card purchase limits guide.

Checking your current limit

Sign in to RBC Online Banking or the RBC Mobile app, open the chequing account the card is linked to and look for the card’s daily limits. If the section isn’t where you expect it, RBC’s phone line (1-800-769-2511) can read the limits on your card to you.

Asking RBC for a higher limit

RBC treats short-term and lasting changes differently:

  • Temporary increase. For a single large cash need, such as a move, a vehicle bought privately or travel, RBC can raise the limit for a short period. Ask by phone or in a branch; some accounts can make the change in online banking.
  • Permanent increase. RBC reviews the account’s history before raising a limit for good, and can decline. A branch visit with photo ID or a call to the number above starts the review.

If the amount is beyond what an ATM can pay out in a day, a teller withdrawal or a bank draft moves it without changing the card limit.

RBC’s fees at other ATMs

RBC’s own ATMs are free for RBC clients on every personal account. At another bank’s machine RBC charges $2.00 (Interac network); $3.00 (Plus network, in Canada or the U.S.); $5.00 (Plus network, outside Canada/U.S.); $1.00 (Interac Debit Cross Border), and the machine’s owner may add its own surcharge. On RBC Day to Day Banking, a withdrawal at another bank’s ATM also uses one of the plan’s monthly transactions; on Advantage Banking and the larger plans, transactions are unlimited but the network fee still applies. The full list of RBC charges by plan is in RBC’s fees guide.

Outside Canada, the daily ATM limit is applied to the Canadian dollar equivalent of the withdrawal, and the card network sets the exchange rate on the day.
