Scotiabank does not publish one flat set of Interac e-Transfer limits that applies to every personal account. Its own Help Centre states that your per-transaction and daily sending limits are set individually for your account, and are viewable — and adjustable — right in the Scotiabank app or Scotia OnLine (help.scotiabank.com, verified September 2026). This is a meaningful difference from some other Big Five banks, which do publish one standard figure for every personal chequing tier.
Scotiabank charges Free on all four Day-to-Day Banking Accounts (Basic Banking, Basic Plus, Preferred, Ultimate) – Scotiabank charges no dedicated per-transfer e-Transfer fee, though a sent e-Transfer still counts as one of the included monthly debit transactions on Basic Banking (18/month) and Basic Plus (25/month)
How to Check and Change Your E-Transfer Limits
- Open the Scotiabank app, tap More, then Profile and settings
- Select Manage transaction limits
- Choose Interac e-Transfer, then use the slider or buttons to review or change your limit
- Select Save changes
If you need a higher limit than the app allows, call 1-800-472-6842, or visit your home branch for a permanent change (help.scotiabank.com, verified September 2026).

How Scotiabank E-Transfers Work
Sending an E-Transfer
- Log in to Scotia OnLine or the Scotiabank app
- Navigate to Transfers → Send Interac e-Transfer
- Select the account to send from
- Enter the recipient’s email address or Canadian mobile number
- Enter the amount (subject to your individual limit — check it in the app if you’re unsure)
- Set a security question and answer (unless the recipient has Autodeposit registered)
- Confirm and send — the recipient receives a notification immediately
Receiving an E-Transfer
Incoming e-Transfers arrive via email or SMS notification. If you have Autodeposit registered, the funds are deposited automatically. Without Autodeposit, click the link in the notification, select your Scotiabank account, answer the security question, and accept. Receiving is always free regardless of account type.
Autodeposit
Autodeposit bypasses the accept/security question step. Register through Scotia OnLine or the Scotiabank app under Interac e-Transfer → Autodeposit Settings. Link your email address or phone number to your chosen Scotiabank account. Once registered, anyone who sends you an e-Transfer to that email or number will have it deposited immediately without the recipient needing to act.
Requesting a Higher E-Transfer Limit
If you regularly need to transfer larger amounts than your current limit allows, first check whether the app’s slider already gives you enough room — Scotiabank lets you adjust your own limit there. For anything beyond that, call 1-800-472-6842 to discuss a limit increase or visit your home branch.
For amounts that exceed e-Transfer limits entirely, consider:
