TD Bank ATM Withdrawal Limit Canada 2026

Updated

TD Bank sets daily limits on ATM cash withdrawals and Interac debit purchases to reduce fraud exposure. The limits are similar to other Big 5 banks — personalized per account (TD app) – not a flat published figure/day at ATMs is the standard starting point — but TD’s extended branch hours give clients more options for requesting in-person limit increases outside regular business hours.

Limits by Account Type

TD does not publish a breakdown of ATM or debit purchase limits by account tier. A prior version of this page listed specific figures per plan (e.g. $500 ATM / $2,500 debit for Minimum Chequing, up to $1,500 ATM / $7,500 debit for All-Inclusive); those numbers could not be confirmed against any live, authoritative td.com source and have been removed rather than repeated. Per TD’s own ATM Banking FAQs page, daily ATM and spending limits are applied per access card and are only viewable in the TD app – not published as a table by account type.

Your account’s actual limit may differ from any generic figure — verify through TD EasyWeb under Account Services → Manage My Limits, in the TD app, or by calling TD directly.

How to Check Your Current TD ATM Limit

  1. Log in to TD EasyWeb at easyweb.td.com
  2. Select your chequing account
  3. Click Account Details or Account Services
  4. Look for Daily Limits or Transaction Limits

The TD app also shows limits under account settings. For accounts where limits are not directly visible in the interface, call 1-866-222-3456 to confirm.

How to Request a Limit Increase

Temporary Increase (up to 7 days)

Useful when you need extra cash for a large purchase, moving expenses, or a trip.

TD EasyWeb:

  1. Log in to TD EasyWeb
  2. Navigate to Account ServicesManage Daily Limits
  3. Enter the amount needed and duration (1–7 days)
  4. Confirm — the new limit takes effect immediately

By Phone: Call TD at 1-866-222-3456 (24/7). Provide your account details and reason for the increase. A temporary increase is typically approved in a single call for clients in good standing.

In Branch: TD’s extended hours — many locations open until 8 PM on weekdays, and open Saturdays — make an in-branch request significantly more accessible compared to most other Canadian banks. See TD branch hours for locations near you.

Permanent Increase

A permanent limit increase requires a review of your account history. Contact TD by phone at 1-866-222-3456 or visit any TD branch. Approval is not guaranteed but is generally accessible for clients with a clean account history and demonstrated need.

TD Green Machine ATM Network

TD operates over 2,500+ ATMs across Canada under the TD Green Machine brand. All TD Green Machine ATMs are surcharge-free for TD account holders. TD is not part of THE EXCHANGE Network used by credit unions, so non-TD ATMs incur fees.

Foreign ATM (outside North America)$0 (All-Inclusive) or $5 (all other personal plans)Plus the 3.5% foreign conversion fee below
Foreign currency conversion (any non-TD ATM abroad)3.5%, added to your total after converting to CAD at the rate set by Visa InternationalCorrects a prior error on this page, which stated 2.5%

For TD Minimum Chequing clients, non-TD ATM withdrawals count toward the 12-transaction monthly limit. TD Every Day Chequing and above have unlimited transactions, though the operator’s convenience fee still applies.

Foreign ATM Withdrawals

When using your TD debit card at an ATM outside Canada:

  • The daily ATM withdrawal limit applies in CAD equivalent
  • TD charges a 3.5% foreign conversion fee on the converted amount, applied at the rate set by Visa International (corrects a prior error on this page, which stated 2.5% — confirmed on td.com’s own account fee schedule)
  • TD’s own non-TD ATM fee also applies ($0–$5 depending on account and region, per the table above)
  • The local ATM operator may also charge a usage fee

For frequent US ATM use, TD’s cross-border banking relationship with TD Bank in the United States allows Canadian clients to open a US TD Bank account. Using a US TD Bank account at a US TD ATM avoids the foreign transaction fee entirely for USD withdrawals.
