TD Mobile Cheque Deposit Limit (2026): What TD Publishes

Updated

TD doesn’t publish fixed per-cheque, daily or monthly dollar limits for deposits in the TD app, and its Digital Banking Agreement explains why. Section 5.2, “Are there any dollar limits that apply to Digital Banking?”, reads:

“Yes. We may set dollar limits for Digital Banking. For example, the amount you can transfer in a day. Or the amount of funds you can deposit in a day. It is your responsibility to know your limits. You can find your limits through Digital Banking or by contacting us. We may change these limits at any time, without notice to you.”

So a TD mobile deposit figure quoted anywhere, this page included, is no substitute for checking your own account in the TD app or EasyWeb. How TD’s approach compares with other banks is in the mobile cheque deposit limits roundup; TD’s cash and transfer caps are in the bank limits hub.

What TD asks you to do with the cheque

TD’s Digital Banking Agreement asks you to mark the cheque straight after depositing it, by writing the date and “Deposited” on the front, and to keep it for 14 days before destroying it. Marking the front makes it obvious the cheque has already been used if it turns up again. The photographing and endorsing steps are the same as in other banking apps and are set out in the mobile cheque deposit guide.

Holds on a TD mobile deposit

A deposit made in the app is a non-branch deposit, so federal rules allow TD to hold it for a few business days before the money can be spent; the caps and the cases where a longer hold is allowed are explained in how long a cheque takes to clear. TD’s own practice is set out in its “About Our Accounts and Related Services” document and can be faster than the caps. TD doesn’t publish separate timelines by cheque type, so the expected availability date the app shows after a deposit is the figure that applies.

A cheque over your mobile limit

  • A TD branch teller can take a cheque the app won’t, and also handles damaged cheques the camera can’t read.
  • A TD Green Machine ATM is another non-branch channel; whether its deposit limit differs from the app’s depends on your account.
  • Asking TD about the limit on your account, by phone at 1-866-222-3456 or in EasyWeb.

TD’s branch hours (Mon-Fri 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM at many locations; Saturday hours at many branches) leave room for a teller deposit outside the usual working day; hours by location are on the TD customer service page.
