Simplii Financial is a division of CIBC, so it uses CIBC’s institution number, 010. What sets a Simplii account apart is its transit: 30800 (standard, used for all Simplii accounts since it has no branch network; not interchangeable with any CIBC branch transit).
Put together, a Simplii routing number is that transit followed by 010, then your own account number. This page is part of the routing number guides, which cover the other banks.
Simplii’s numbers at a glance
| Field | Simplii Financial |
|---|---|
| Institution number | 010 (shared with CIBC) |
| Transit number | 30800 (standard, used for all Simplii accounts since it has no branch network; not interchangeable with any CIBC branch transit) |
| 9-digit EFT version | 001030800 |
| SWIFT/BIC code | CIBCCATT (CIBC’s code) |
Simplii and CIBC transits aren’t interchangeable
Because both brands use 010, the transit is the only part of the routing number that tells a payment it belongs to Simplii. A deposit sent with a CIBC branch transit goes to that CIBC branch, not to your Simplii account, and is likely to be returned. CIBC’s routing numbers explains how CIBC branch transits work.
When a payroll or government form asks for the bank’s name, “Simplii Financial” is the name that matches the Simplii transit.
Getting a Simplii void cheque
Simplii’s app and website produce a void cheque with all three numbers filled in:
- Sign in to the Simplii app or simplii.com
- Open the account, such as the No Fee Chequing Account
- Choose Account Details
- Select Void Cheque or Pre-Authorized Payment Form
- Download or share the image
The image shows Simplii’s transit, the institution number and your personal account number, which is the part that routes the payment to you rather than to Simplii in general. Employers and the CRA accept it in place of a paper void cheque.
For a single 9-digit routing box
Some payroll systems, often US-built ones, have one routing field. For Simplii it takes a zero, then 010, then Simplii’s transit: the 9-digit version shown in the table. The EFT routing number format page explains how it’s built.
Direct deposit to Simplii
An employer takes the void cheque image or the three numbers typed in; the guide to setting up direct deposit covers the forms and timing. For tax refunds and benefits, see CRA direct deposit set-up. Service Canada payments such as EI, CPP and OAS are set up through Service Canada, as that guide explains.
Wires into a Simplii account
Simplii takes incoming wires through CIBC, using CIBC’s SWIFT code:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Bank name | Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) |
| SWIFT/BIC | CIBCCATT |
| Account holder | Your legal name |
| Account number | Your Simplii account number |
| Further instructions | “For credit to Simplii Financial account [your account number]” |
The bank address and any further wire instructions can change, so Simplii can confirm them before you pass them to a sender. Simplii’s Global Money Transfer service is a separate remittance product, not a wire. How wires work in general is in the wire transfer guide.
Simplii is not connected to Tangerine, which belongs to Scotiabank and has its own numbers; see Tangerine’s routing number. Simplii’s accounts and fees are covered in the Simplii Financial review.
