CIBC Customer Service 2026 | Phone, Chat & Complaint Escalation

Updated

CIBC’s main personal banking line is 1-800-465-2422, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It covers general account questions, lost or stolen cards, fraud reports and most personal banking needs; CIBC Investor’s Edge has a separate line for brokerage questions. For CIBC’s accounts and who they suit, see the CIBC review.

CIBC’s complaint process has two internal steps after the front line (Client Care, then the Client Complaint Appeals Office). CIBC has no internal body called an “ombudsman”; that name belongs to the external, independent Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI).

Fraud Reporting

To report suspected fraud:

  1. Call 1-800-465-2422 (identity/debit fraud) or 1-800-465-4653 (credit card fraud), available 24/7.
  2. CIBC blocks the compromised card or account.
  3. Disputed transactions are investigated; CIBC’s zero-liability policy covers most unauthorized debit and credit transactions.
  4. A replacement card arrives by mail within a few business days; a branch may be faster.

Phishing emails or texts that claim to be from CIBC can be sent to [email protected], which CIBC describes as “only to report and share any fraudulent text messages or emails”, or reported at 1-888-872-2422. How to recognise these messages is covered in banking fraud protection.
