Rogers Bank’s line gives a discounted rate per person per visit, and Tangerine says terms, conditions and exclusions apply. Mastercard Travel Pass’s own terms add: Depending on the card type and country of issue, fees and charges may apply to the cardholder, and Mastercard can change them at any time without notice. The app is available in certain markets on selected Mastercard products, and where the issuing bank has agreed with Mastercard to offer it; cardholders must check with their issuing bank to find out if they are eligible. No-fee cards and their other perks are compared in the no-fee section.

How the lounge programs work

Each program below publishes its own terms, which sit beside the card provider’s.

Visa Airport Companion Program

The program gives eligible holders of Canadian-issued Visa cards lounge and dining benefits at participating locations, and Dragonpass hosts and manages it. Its terms count the complimentary visits per membership year, as the program’s table of eligible cards sets them, and the cardholder can use them for themselves and for accompanying guests. The terms also say the enrolled cardholder makes the pre-bookings and must attend them, and that a complimentary visit comes with a pre-booking fee for each person, the cardholder included. On extra visits, the terms say: All additional visits beyond the complimentary visits are subject to a fee of USD $32 (subject to change) per person per visit. For some cards in the program’s own table the benefit is for the primary cardholder only. The membership renews each year on its anniversary unless suspended or cancelled. Dragonpass and other providers supply the services, and the terms say neither Visa nor the card issuer is responsible for claims arising from the program. The program's home page says eligible cardholders can access 1,200+ airport lounges worldwide, including many in Canada. Its lounge list is at visaairportcompanion.ca/lounges.

Mastercard Travel Pass

Mastercard Travel Pass is an app and website that DragonPass developed under a right granted by Mastercard so Mastercard premium cardholders can use airport benefits such as lounges. Dragonpass services are provided by Dragonpass International Limited. Its terms set these rules: Benefits are for the cardholder only and guests are not included, except that a Mastercard World Elite cardholder can take one guest per visit into the airport lounges. Primary and supplementary cardholders must each register and show their own membership ID to get in and avoid being charged as a guest; supplementary access depends on the issuer's terms, and some supplementary cardholders may have to bear the cost themselves. Lounges can be added or removed without notice; the latest list is in the app. World Elite Mastercards are compared on the Mastercard page.

Priority Pass

Priority Pass is a membership program for entering third-party airport lounges with a Priority Pass card, a digital membership card or an eligible payment card, among other means. Its conditions say visits, including guests’, carry a per-person, per-visit charge where the membership plan provides for one. With a membership that comes through a payment card, a later charge to the card follows the card provider’s terms and the provider can limit the number of visits. Priority Pass says select membership benefits are currently unavailable to members who have Priority Pass through a payment card, banking partner or third-party membership. Not every lounge accepts a payment card for entry. Bought directly, Priority Pass’s Canadian page lists these tiers:

  • Standard: for the occasional traveller; US$99 annual fee on Priority Pass's Canadian page.
  • Standard Plus: for the regular traveller; US$329 annual fee on Priority Pass's Canadian page.
  • Prestige: for the frequent traveller; US$469 annual fee on Priority Pass's Canadian page.

Plaza Premium Lounges

Plaza Premium’s terms let it refuse entry for statutory, regulatory or airport-authority reasons, such as health and safety or fire rules. An airside lounge needs departing passengers to have cleared immigration and customs and to hold a boarding pass for the onward flight. On children: Plaza Premium's terms say children are not permitted to use the lounge facilities in certain lounges, and that where a lounge allows access to children they must be accompanied by a customer aged at least 18 at all times.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges

Air Canada lets a primary or secondary holder of an Aeroplan premium credit card into its Maple Leaf Lounges in Canada and the United States once the card is linked to the Aeroplan account, the Aeroplan number is on the booking and a same-day ticket or boarding pass is shown. The ticket must be for a flight marketed or operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Air Canada Express or a Star Alliance airline. Air Canada's page invites customers into its Maple Leaf Lounges and Air Canada Cafes within three hours of scheduled departure (or of original departure in a flight delay), and connecting customers at any time while they wait for the next flight. On guests: Air Canada's page says additional guests are welcome for a fee of 59.00 CAD, USD, EUR or GBP, with the fee currency based on lounge location and subject to local taxes, and that for a limited time eligible cardholders can invite one guest travelling on the same flight at no extra charge. Cards the page lists for the limited-time free guest: TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege, CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege, and the American Express Aeroplan Reserve, Business Reserve and Corporate Reserve cards. Air Canada can refuse any customer at its discretion. In a release dated September 29, 2026, Air Canada said that a benefit that previously applied only in North America will extend access for Premium Cardholders, plus one travel companion, to Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges worldwide. CIBC’s notice for its Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege dates its change January 12, 2027; TD’s page for its Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege states North America, and Amex’s page for the Aeroplan Reserve excludes lounges outside Canada and the United States. Which Aeroplan cards carry the access, and on what terms, is on the Aeroplan page.

American Express Global Lounge Collection

The American Express Global Lounge Collection gives complimentary access to more than 1,550 airport lounges across 140 countries and counting (as of 06/2026), with enrolment required. For the Platinum Card, Amex says the collection includes participating Plaza Premium, Priority Pass, Centurion and Delta Sky Club lounges (the last when flying Delta), among other partner lounges. Amex says guest access depends on the lounge program and location. The Amex Platinum review covers the rest of that card.

Guests, extra visits and additional cardholders

The guest terms recorded here for some of the cards in the table, grouped where the terms are the same:

  • CIBC Aventura Gold Visa Card, CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card, TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card and CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card: Complimentary visits can be used for accompanying guests; further visits cost $32 USD per person per visit (subject to change).
  • BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard: After the four passes, you and your travelling companion can continue to enjoy lounge access for US$32 per person, per visit, charged to the card
  • Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite+ Card: Visits are counted per person per visit (a Cardholder plus one guest counts as two visits). Visits beyond the complimentary ones cost $32 USD (subject to change) per person per visit, charged to the card enrolled in the Program
  • RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege: Visits beyond the complimentary ones cost $32 USD (subject to change) per person per visit; the enrolled cardholder can pre-book up to 6 guests including themselves and must attend the booking, with bookings and cancellations at least 48 hours ahead; a pre-booking fee applies to each accompanying guest, the cardholder included; the lounge may refuse entry before the booked time and allows entry up to 1 hour after it.
  • American Express Aeroplan Reserve Card: The Basic Cardmember and each eligible Supplementary Cardmember can bring one guest free into the same eligible Maple Leaf Lounge or Air Canada Café, accompanied by the cardmember; additional guests may enter on paying the applicable fee. Under the Priority Pass terms, the usage fee applies to the Cardmember and guests, and some lounges do not admit guests.
  • TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card: Maple Leaf Lounge and Air Canada Cafe: the primary cardholder and each additional cardholder can bring one guest complimentary through December 31, 2026, and a guest must be accompanied by a primary or additional cardholder; additional guests pay the applicable fee. Visa Airport Companion Program: complimentary visits can be used for accompanying guests; further visits cost $32 USD per person per visit (subject to change).
  • Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Privilege Card: Visits beyond the complimentary ones cost $32 USD (subject to change) per person per visit, billed to the Visa Infinite Privilege card connected to the membership
  • American Express Platinum Card: Amex's FAQ says guest access depends on the lounge program and location: some lounges allow complimentary guests, others charge a fee or have different guest policies.

On the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite+ Card, Scotiabank says the complimentary visits belong to the primary cardholder, and any cardholder can use them only with the primary cardholder present. TD and CIBC give an end date for the complimentary Maple Leaf guest on their Aeroplan Privilege cards, printed in TD’s line above and in CIBC’s cell in the table.

RBC's benefits guide says six lounge visits per membership year for every enrolled cardholder on the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege account.

Lounge visits with a spending condition

American Express states two changes for the Platinum Card: Effective January 1, 2027, Platinum Cardmembers will receive a limited number of complimentary visits to Plaza Premium and Priority Pass lounges each year; access to other lounges in the Global Lounge Collection remains unlimited. Amex tracks annual spend from January 2026; reaching $20,000 in eligible spend on the account within a calendar year unlocks unlimited Plaza Premium and Priority Pass visits for the rest of that year and the following calendar year. The other cards’ lounge lines in the table carry each provider’s own terms.

How to check and use your access

  • Visa Airport Companion: Eligible cardholders must enrol in the program, through the free Visa Airport Companion app or on the program website (visaairportcompanion.ca), using a valid eligible Canadian-issued Visa card; membership begins immediately.
  • Mastercard Travel Pass: each cardholder registers in the app and shows their own membership ID.
  • Priority Pass: Entry needs a valid means of access, a valid boarding pass and any additional identification the lounge asks for; a photo or the card number of the means of access is not accepted as a substitute.
  • Maple Leaf Lounges: Air Canada’s steps are under Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges.
  • American Express Global Lounge Collection: enrolment is required.

Entry isn’t guaranteed: Priority Pass says access is subject to capacity restrictions, and Mastercard Travel Pass says lounge service depends on the lounge operators’ capacity. Each card’s name in the table links to the card’s page at its provider.

Does a lounge benefit pay for the annual fee?

Inputs made up for the arithmetic: a card with a $150 annual fee and 6 complimentary visits a year, each visit priced at the Visa Airport Companion Program’s charge for an extra visit, US$32, converted at the Bank of Canada’s indicative rate of 1.4097 Canadian dollars per US dollar on October 19, 2026.

  • All 6 visits used: $270.66, which is 180% of the fee.
  • 2 visits used: $90.22, which is 60% of the fee.

The figures assume each visit would otherwise have been paid for, and the Canadian amounts change with the exchange rate, which the Bank of Canada publishes as an indicative rate. On the Visa program a guest uses one of the complimentary visits (guests), and the terms attach a pre-booking fee to each person using one, which these figures leave out. Travel credit cards works through a travel card’s fee, and is a premium card worth it does the same for premium cards.
