New Brunswick’s average individual income of $50,900 in 2024 was the lowest of the ten provinces. That average was 14.3% below the Canadian one, while the province’s median of $42,000 was 5.4% below the Canadian median. On the household measure, New Brunswick’s median after-tax income ranked second-lowest among the provinces. Economic families had a median of $92,800 after tax and people living outside a family $35,700.

Change since 2014
Adjusted for inflation (constant 2024 dollars), New Brunswick’s median individual income went from $38,100 in 2014 to $42,000, 10% above its 2014 level; the national median finished 8% above its own. The province’s average individual income went from $46,800 to $50,900.
Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton and the north
The Canadian Income Survey does not publish New Brunswick cities, so local figures come from tax-filer data (Table 11-10-0008-01, 2023 incomes before tax). The median individual income was $46,260 in Fredericton, the provincial capital, $43,720 in Saint John and $43,450 in Moncton. In the north it was $41,540 in Miramichi, $38,320 in Edmundston, $36,880 in Bathurst and $35,470 in the New Brunswick part of Campbellton, against $41,060 for the province as a whole on the same basis.
