Job Bank wages for IT managers
Job Bank’s national median for computer and information systems managers is $66.67 an hour; the 10th percentile is $43.75 and the 90th $103.37. At 37.5 hours a week for 52 weeks, the median converts to about $130,007 a year. That annual figure is a conversion of the hourly wage, not a reported salary.

The table compares occupations, not steps on one career ladder, and each row spans a wide range from low to high. Statistics Canada’s description of NOC 20012 lists duties such as controlling the budget and expenditures of the department, company or project, and recruiting and supervising analysts, engineers, programmers and technicians; its employment requirements are a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, business administration, commerce or engineering (usually required) and several years of experience in systems analysis, data administration, software engineering, network design or computer programming, including supervisory experience.
IT managers in the 2021 Census
The Census reports employment income for 2020, for people who worked the full year full time, at the median and average. Those figures are older than Job Bank’s; the CPI-adjusted columns express the 2020 incomes in today’s dollars and aren’t a measure of pay since then.

Public-sector IT pay
In the federal public service, the Information Technology (IT) group replaced the former Computer Systems Group. Its levels IT-01 to IT-05 and their annual rates, from the Treasury Board’s IT collective agreement, are in a table on the software engineers page. Provincial governments, cities and Crown corporations set their own scales.
Certifications
Project management, IT service management, security and cloud certifications are issued by private bodies, each with its own experience and exam requirements. This page doesn’t give a dollar “premium” for any of them: neither Job Bank nor the Census records certifications, and the salary-survey figures in circulation aren’t a source this site uses.
