This review covers Moomoo Canada, a trading app built around charting, market data and research: what it charges, what you can trade, and who it suits. Unlike several Canadian brokers, Moomoo charges a small commission on each trade, but it lists no currency exchange fee, which changes the math for anyone buying US stocks. For every other broker, see the online broker comparison.
Moomoo fees
From Moomoo Canada’s pricing page as of September 2026:
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| US stocks and ETFs (price $1 or more) | US$0.0099 per share, US$1.99 minimum per trade |
| Canadian stocks and ETFs (price $1 or more) | CA$0.0149 per share, CA$1.49 minimum per trade |
| US options | US$0.65 per contract, US$1 minimum per order |
| Currency exchange | $0 |
| Account and withdrawal fees | $0 |
US sales also carry the US SEC fee, and lower rates apply to shares priced under $1.
What that means in practice
- A small Canadian ETF purchase of 20 shares costs the CA$1.49 minimum, since 20 × CA$0.0149 is CA$0.30. Brokers with $0 commissions charge nothing for the same trade.
- A $10,000 US purchase costs the per-trade commission but no currency exchange fee. At a broker charging 1.5% to convert, the conversion alone would be $150.
For a comparison of conversion routes, including Norbert’s Gambit, see how to buy US stocks from Canada.
Tools and data
Moomoo’s app and desktop platform are built around market data and analysis: real-time quotes, Level 2 quotes for US stocks, real-time options chains, Morningstar ETF ratings, Wall Street analyst ratings, screeners, a heat map and paper trading. For active traders who would otherwise pay for data, that is the main attraction.
Accounts
Moomoo Canada offers TFSAs, RRSPs and spousal RRSPs, margin accounts and cash accounts. It does not list RESPs, FHSAs or RRIFs among its accounts; investors who need those will need another broker for them.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| $0 currency exchange fee | Per-trade minimum on every stock and ETF trade |
| Level 2 US quotes, options data and analyst ratings included | Fewer account types than most Canadian brokers |
| Paper trading for practice | Built for active traders more than monthly ETF buyers |
Who Moomoo suits
Moomoo suits active traders who value research and market data, and US-stock investors who want to avoid currency conversion fees on larger trades. Investors buying small amounts of Canadian ETFs regularly pay less at a $0-commission broker such as Wealthsimple or Questrade. Its closest rival is Webull; for per-share pricing at a larger scale, see Interactive Brokers.
