CPP, OAS, GST and CCB Payment Dates 2026: All Government Benefit Dates

Updated

This is WealthNorth’s single calendar of government benefit payment dates: CPP and OAS first, then the GST/HST credit, the Canada Child Benefit and the other federal and provincial programs. Each section links to the page for that program, which explains the amounts and eligibility. The dates come from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Service Canada payment calendars; where a program’s page has its own schedule, the dates here are the same.

On this page: CPP and OAS · GST/HST credit and CGEB · Canada Child Benefit · Ontario Trillium Benefit · Advanced Canada Workers Benefit · Other programs · If a payment doesn’t arrive

CPP and OAS payment dates 2026

The Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security, including the Guaranteed Income Supplement and the Allowance, are paid by Service Canada on the same day each month. These are the direct-deposit dates; an OAS payment by cheque is mailed during the last 3 business days of the month.

GST/HST credit and Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment dates 2026

The GST/HST credit was renamed the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit in July, so the table shows which name each of the year’s four payments was paid under. GST/HST credit payment dates has the full schedule under both names, the provincial credits paid with it and the next payment period.

CRA pays the benefit in four quarterly payments, on the 5th of July, October, January and April (or the last business day before, when the 5th is a weekend or federal statutory holiday), for a payment period that runs from July to the following June. If your benefit works out to less than $50 a quarter, CRA pays the whole year in one payment in July.

Canada Child Benefit payment dates 2026

The CCB deposit also carries the related provincial and territorial child programs that CRA runs, and the Child Disability Benefit is an extra monthly amount inside it. The Alberta Child and Family Benefit has its own dates, listed under other programs. Canada Child Benefit amounts covers how much each one pays.

CRA recalculates the CCB every July, and each payment year runs from July to the following June. The July 2026 to June 2027 payments are based on 2025 income. So in any calendar year, the January to June payments use the return from two years before and the July to December payments use the previous year’s return. If the amount changed in July, see why a CCB payment changes.

If your CCB works out to less than $20 a month, CRA pays it as one lump sum covering the whole payment period instead of monthly. On a new application, the first payment comes once CRA has confirmed you’re eligible and processed the application; how to apply for the CCB covers that step.

Ontario Trillium Benefit payment dates 2026

CRA pays the Ontario Trillium Benefit for the Ontario government, usually as a twelfth of the year’s amount on the 10th of each month. A 10th that lands on a weekend or statutory holiday moves the payment earlier, to the previous working day.

The payments from July to the following June are based on the previous year’s income tax and benefit return. How the year’s entitlement is paid depends on its size:

Yearly OTB entitlementHow it’s paid
$2 or lessNo payment
Over $2 and under $10One payment of $10
Up to $500A single payment at the start of the benefit year, usually July
Over $500Monthly, or one payment at the end of the benefit year in June if you choose that on your return, a choice made again each year

If your return is assessed after June 19, 2026, the first payment usually comes four to eight weeks after the assessment, and the rest on the 10th of each month after that.

Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB) payment dates 2026

The ACWB pays part of the Canada Workers Benefit in advance, during the year, to people who qualify.

The Income Tax Act sets the advance months as July and October of one year and January of the next, so a January payment belongs to the benefit period that began the July before; CRA describes that period as running from July to June of the following year. If each advance would be under $33, they’re combined into a single payment.

There's no application: if you are entitled to the CWB on your tax return, CRA sends you advance payments automatically in the next benefit period, which runs from July to June, as long as it receives that return before November 1 of the period and you are a resident of Canada on the first day of each payment period. What is the advance Canada Workers Benefit? explains how the advances are worked out and settled.

The rest of the benefit comes with your tax return: you claim the CWB on the return and report the advances you received during the year. How to claim the CWB has the steps.

Before calling, check the status of the payment in your CRA account and make sure your personal information, including your bank details, is up to date.

CRA can email you a reminder about one week before each payment, and your CRA account shows your next payment.

Direct deposit

Direct deposit is set up separately for the two agencies. For CRA benefits, sign in to your CRA account and update your profile, or give consent through your bank; either is updated the next business day. You can’t sign up for CRA direct deposit by phone. CRA doesn’t handle CPP, OAS or EI: OAS details can be changed in My Service Canada Account, but for CPP and EI, My Service Canada Account can’t be used to change your information at this time, so you call Service Canada, ask for a call back or go in person.

Keep filing your tax return

CRA works out the Canada Child Benefit, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and most provincial benefits from the return you file each year, and the payments stop if you don’t file. If you have a spouse or common-law partner, both of you need to file. The benefits guide lists every program.

Benefits and your tax return explains how filing keeps benefit payments coming.

This calendar is part of the financial planning hub, which also covers net worth, savings and debt benchmarks. To see where your household stands, net worth by age shows the median and average for each age group.
