This calculator estimates your monthly Old Age Security pension. Enter your net income, your age, when you start OAS, your years in Canada after age 18, and where you live. It covers partial pensions, deferral and the clawback; the rules behind each are in the OAS guide.
How the estimate works
- The maximum for your age. For October to December 2026: $762.50 a month at 65 to 74, $838.75 at 75+. See the maximum OAS payment.
- Your years of residence. With fewer than 40 years in Canada after 18, you receive 1/40 of the maximum per year. The minimum is 10 years while living in Canada, or 20 years to be paid abroad. See partial OAS.
- When you start. Each month you delay past 65 adds 0.6%, up to 36% at 70. See deferring OAS.
- Your income. If your net income (line 23400, including OAS) is above $93,454 (2025 income, which sets the deductions from July 2026 to June 2027), the clawback takes 15% of the excess, up to the whole pension. See the OAS clawback, or the clawback calculator for that part alone. This step is the rule for residents of Canada. If you live outside Canada, the recovery tax is worked out on net world income reported on the OAS Return of Income, and tax treaties limit or eliminate it for residents of many countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom; see is OAS taxable?.
The estimate is before income tax; OAS is taxable (see is OAS taxable?). If your income is low, you may also qualify for the Guaranteed Income Supplement, which this calculator doesn’t include.
