Maximum OAS Payment Amount | How Much Can You Get?

This page gives the maximum OAS pension for the current quarter and what decides whether you get it. OAS rules in general are covered in the OAS guide.

The pension rises 10% automatically the month after you turn 75. OAS is indexed to the Consumer Price Index every January, April, July and October, and it never goes down when prices fall. For October to December 2026, OAS rises 1.4%; this page updates when Service Canada publishes the new amounts. (Source: Service Canada, OAS payment amounts.)

What decides your amount

  • Years of residence. The full pension needs 40 years in Canada after age 18. With fewer years you get 1/40 of the full pension per year, starting at 10 years: see why your OAS may be less than the maximum.
  • When you start. Each month you delay after 65 adds 0.6%, up to 36% at 70, so a full pension started at 70 is $1,037.00 a month at the October to December 2026 maximum. The trade-offs are in deferring OAS.
  • Your income. Net income above $93,454 (2025 income, for payments from July 2026 to June 2027) triggers the OAS clawback, which recovers 15% of the excess, up to the whole pension. The clawback calculator shows your figure.
The OAS pension rises by 10% automatically from the month after you turn 75, and the increase doesn't reduce your GIS.
